The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Wirtgen Group has officially announced the launch of its brand-new WRC 240(i) Rock Crusher, which comes decked up with an ability to break coarse rocks in-situ, as found in hand-packed pavement layers or stony soils. This it does essentially to manufacture a homogeneous mix. Talk about the product on a slightly deeper level, the crusher has a working width of 2,320 mm and a working depth of up to 510 mm, forming a combination that enables output of up to 600 tons per hour. This output is helped by using a rugged crushing and mixing rotor, alongside toolholders developed for crushing applications with the HT18. The said feature makes a point to bring you the results even when working in a stony ground. The crusher’s tools, on their part, bear large, impact-resistant carbide cutting edges, and a similar protection is given to the holder bases through wear-resistant protective elements made from high-tensile steel. Such a robust mechanism ensures high machine utilization rates and process reliability in especially demanding applications. Coming back to the rotor, it is notably driven via a transmission, which happens to be developed specifically for WRC, enabling realization of high rotor speeds. We referred to the product’s robust nature, the said element is reinforced big time once you start digging into its armored rotor housing. You see, in order to deliver maximum security under all surroundings, the rotor housing of the Rock Crusher is lined with abrasion-resistant wearing plates made again from high-tensile steel. Complimenting the same is a fact that the entire mixing chamber boasts the stated protective layer of hard-wearing plates, plates which we can individually replace if and when required. Moving away from its core value proposition for a second, the crusher also has the means to conceive for the world a more sustainable brand of processing. An example showcasing the same is birthed by how it has the means to add cement and water in the same pass during the preparation of base layers. In practice, the feat is achieved by pre-spreading the cement with a binding agent spreader and then banking upon machine’s Varioinjection bar to spray water into the mixing chamber. Another way the crusher promises sustainability talks to its use case around soil stabilization. Apart from that, it also has on the table nine rotor speeds, a variable crushing stage, exchangeable screens with a range of clear mesh sizes and adjustable distance from the rotor, and adjustable rotor plate pressure etc. Making these prospects even brighter is the machine advance rate functionality which allows configuration of the machine to meet the needs generated in actual site conditions and facilitate the desired application. Rounding off highlights is the rock crusher’s digital assistance framework, which is centered on a satellite-driven AutoTrac system. The said system helps operators steers the machine within tolerances of a few centimeters on the basis of a previously calculated reference strip and a specified overlap of adjacent strips. By doing so, the system makes it possible to achieve optimal utilization of the machine’s working width.
