There is no end to what all human beings can do, and yet there is little we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This tendency to improve, no matter the situation, has already brought the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look beyond the surface for a second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiate a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, this revolution then went on to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one new discovery ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
B2W Software, a Trimble company and provider of heavy construction management software, has officially made a decision to add new alerts and notifications capabilities in the current framework of its proprietary B2W platform. According to certain reports, the stated new features are designed to help contractors in communicating automatically and in real time across the office, field and shop to support optimal resource scheduling, field performance tracking, and ensure equipment maintenance workflows. This translates to the fact that over two dozen actions taken in the B2W Schedule, B2W Track and B2W Maintain applications can now trigger messages delivered to selected recipients by text message or email. Talk about what actions are included in the mix here, they cover creation of resource assignments, approval or rejection of field logs, mechanic timecards, and much more. On a granular level, for instance, the platform’s B2W Track application for field performance tracking and analysis should be able to trigger alerts and notifications whenever field logs (for crews) or work logs (for individual employees) are created, submitted, approved, rejected or transferred. As for the users of B2W Maintain, they can, like the solution’s name suggests, have the means to generate and manage messages indicating when preventive maintenance services are due and for the creation and status of maintenance requests, work orders, and purchase orders.
“Things change constantly in construction, and immediate alerts and notifications are emerging as important options for getting information into the hands of people that need it, when they need it,” said Bob Brown, general manager for B2W Software.
Fair enough, next up, we have B2W inform, which will create alerts and notifications based on the data entered into specific fields. The possible use cases here would be reporting a defect on an equipment inspection form or notification of an injury using a safety incident form. Lastly, there is B2W Schedule. This one will benefit from the new updates in a manner where its users are going to have timely access of notifications for new or changed personnel assignments, equipment moves, and material deliveries.
The development also provides you the option to communicate acceptance, rejection or completion on every single activity.
“Unified applications and a single operational database for lists of jobs, employees, equipment and other information make it easier to manage and monitor these instant messages cohesively,” said Brown.
The stated enhancements, interestingly enough, will work next to a host of other improvements across B2W Software’s platform. These improvements touch on an expanded API connectivity, and vendor and subcontractor management features for B2W Estimate. Then, there is an ability to clock in or out and leverage geolocation capabilities for individual performance tracking within the B2W Employee App. Hold on, we aren’t done yet, considering the users will also see a more advanced set of purchase order and inventory management features within the B2W Maintain solution.
