The human arsenal is loaded with gazillion valuable components, but nothing stands above our knowhow of getting better on a consistent basis. This unwavering commitment towards growth has brought the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the stated group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which ushered us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look beyond the surface for one hot second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiated a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, the next thing this revolution did was to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one new construction-themed development ends up with the desired, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
Verve Motion, a Massachusetts-based company, has officially announced the launch of a new software and data analytics platform called Verve Logic™, which can be integrated into the company’s innovative wearable robotics SafeLift™ exosuit to ensure workers safety. According to certain reports, once integrated into the suite, this platform can seamlessly and accurately pinpoint critical areas that pose injury risks to industrial workers as they work, while simultaneously coaching them up to enhance both individual and group performance. Available through simplistic and actionable reports, Verve Logic brings to the fore a wide range of analytics, and the ones we will begin from happen to be motion-based insights. Surely, there are sensors already embedded in the SafeLift exosuit that collect 3D motion and force data while the suit is in use to help drive safety and operational improvements. However, taking that a step further, the brand-new Verve Logic offers comprehensive insights, including key analytics such as lift count, usage duration, and weight offloaded. Furthermore, it automatically identifies risky movements, such as prolonged bending, excessive forward bending, twisting, side bending, and other such actions which are known to accentuate injury risk among workers. Now, the platform’s coaching capabilities also become relevant, as they allow leadership teams to proactively intervene and offer education on safety measures. Not just that, this also paves the way for an enterprise to implement facility improvements and enhance the overall well-being of their workforce. Next up, we must discuss Verve Logic’s promise to offer personalized reporting. Here, we are particularly referring to those safety reports that provide on-site trainers and leadership with the most granular-level insights related to safety. Given the extensive focus on each and every individual, such a feature can instantly scale up the quality of eventual feedback to the worker, thus resulting in sustainable progress across the board. We touched on the platform’s individualistic approach, but in reality, it can also deliver at your disposal customizable group-specific analytics. These analytics carry the responsibility to highlight groups at greater risk of injury, something it does by considering factors such as job roles, shifts, and experience levels. Hence, leveraging real distribution site metrics, Verve Logic is able to ensure effective prioritization of initiatives in regards to coaching and ergonomics.
“The SafeLift exosuit development was informed through extended testing of human subjects where we collected biomechanics data in a lab environment to understand how an individual moves, and how much back offloading the suit provides,” said Conor Walsh, PhD, scientific co-founder of Verve Motion, and faculty member at Harvard University. “It is exciting now that Verve Motion is making this same type of data available to workers and their organizations through Verve Logic so they can understand injury risk reduction and optimize the use of SafeLift for their operations.”
Having touched on Verve Logic, we got to also talk a little bit about the product it will be working alongside in SafeLift exosuit. Understood to be the world’s first soft exosuit that offers tailored, adaptive assistance customized for each worker and task, this exosuit is a lightweight wearable solution which combines real-time motion sensing with a robotic angle. To go with its lightweight nature, the product also has a comfortable form factor, translating to how it can be easily worn like a backpack. If we are to explain the same convenience aspect in a numerical sense, we can say that SafeLift exosuit alleviates no less than 40 percent of the strain on a worker’s back during any typical workday, achieving the same through assistance in parallel with their underlying muscles. But what’s the proof to validate the stated claim? Well, going by a recent customer study, nearly 97 percent of workers reported that the exosuit effectively assisted them in their daily tasks, highlighting its in enhancing job performance. Another 83 hinted at better ergonomic practices, claiming exosuit solution improved their lifting posture, which has always been a key factor when the agenda is to reduce workplace injuries and promote long-term health among industrial workers. On top of it, the study also brought up those 98% workers who said they would recommend the exosuit to a coworker. This, like you can guess, delivered a rather strong testimony regarding the product’s abilities. Owing to the given acceptance, since its launch in 2020, SafeLift exosuits have aided U.S. workers in lifting more than 300 million pounds. It has also reduced lower back and hip injuries by up to 85 percent, enhanced productivity by 3-7 percent and job satisfaction by almost 10%. The exosuit has further generated for its customers an ROI worth 250%. Also birthing a by-product in greater worker retention and recruitment, the product has, so far, been used across wide range of industries, including grocery, package distribution, third party logistics, retail, supply chain distribution, and manufacturing.
“The real-world impact of this technology stems from the exosuit’s dual function: it not only protects workers from injuries by supporting their bodies during ergonomically risky lifts but also lessens the effort needed for all lifts, including those considered ‘safe.’ As a result, workers can return home to their families unharmed and with enough energy to enjoy their lives outside of work,” said Christopher Buck, Head of Product at Verve Motion.
