The human arsenal, as we know, has always been a little on the loaded side, and yet it has still never possessed anything more valuable than that tendency of ours to grow on a consistent basis. This is because the stated tendency has notably enabled us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology emerging as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is, by and large, based on its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to usher us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we take up a closer look, it should become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real-world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence made it the ultimate centerpiece of every horizon. Having such an ingenious piece run the show, unsurprisingly enough, scaled up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after reaching so far ahead, the prodigious concept of technology will somehow keep on bringing all the right goods to the table. This has only turned more and more evident in recent times, and truth be told, Nvidia’s latest plan should only make that trend bigger and better moving forward.
Nvidia has officially initiated the proceedings to make its cloud gaming service, GeForce Now, available in cars. As per certain reports, the company has already partnered with the likes of Hyundai, Polestar, and BYD to achieve the stated goal. But how will such an operation work on a more practical note? Well, if it’s anything like the promo video posted by Nvidia, then it could see passengers simply plugging game controllers into their car’s entertainment system and choosing from GeForce Now’s library of more than 1,000 games. These games include AAA titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 as well as free-to-play games like Fortnite. Although the details are scarce on what technical specs might be required to access these games, we do know is that they’ll run via Android-based infotainment systems or built-in web browsers.
When quizzed regarding Nvidia’s new foray, Stella Li Vice President of BYD and CEO of BYD America, responded by saying:
“We are excited to offer our customers the best in technology, comfort, design from BYD and now the latest in gaming through NVIDIA GeForce NOW high-performance cloud gaming service. The experience of driving our cars is becoming increasingly sophisticated, entertaining and sustainable.”
Make no mistake; bringing games on wheels isn’t exactly a new concept, as players like BMW, Tesla, and plenty others have already tested their luck with the technology. However, the core needs of this offering has, up until recently, kept it limited to just a few viable titles. Now, with infotainment systems getting better every single day, the stated roadblock seems well and truly out of our path. Another indication for the same is apparent in Tesla’s decision to let its cars access the famous gaming platform, Steam
As per Nvidia’s official press release, GeForce Now will be able to “stream a real-time, full PC-gaming experience … to software-defined cars.” The company further claimed that its gaming service can “enhance time spent charging or riding in vehicles, as it enables front-seat occupants to stream games while parked, and passengers to game in the back seat if screens are available.”
Interestingly enough, Nvidia’s expansion bid comes shortly after it made a new attempt at improving its service in August 2022, an attempt which saw the company adding support for 1440p resolution at 120fps across Chrome and Edge browsers.
